Pigeons are often labeled as dirty, disease-ridden, and dismissed as “flying rats” or pests. They are frequently blamed for polluting cities, yet it is humans who create the environments filled with waste in the first place. In reality, pigeons are simply adapting to urban life. They find food in trash bins, along sidewalks and build nests wherever they can, often using synthetic materials, and endure the daily hostility directed toward them.
Shifting between residue and survival, Feathered Citizens reframes the pigeon not as a nuisance, but as a quiet index of urban excess. Neither advocacy nor accusation, it lingers in the in-between: a subtle act of attention toward a species shaped, inevitably, by humanity.
